I clearly remember the morning the light on the mountains grabbed my attention! With coffee in hand I was obsessed with their majestic shapes. For years I've used my camera to capture the image; but the photographs always fell short in comparison to what I could see. So on this day I do what Artist do - I get my drawing pencils and sketch what I see.
Why is this different?
Well this time I was going to sketch on a canvas 12" high by 60" wide! I love all the space I have to work with and concentrate on what I see. The process is intimidating but I push forward thinking about value and shape before I head back to my studio to elaborate on what I've captured. After some time spent exploring possible color theories I get back to my canvas and allow the creative process to develop ~ I love a creative process that has no boundaries ~ and I'm pleased with the results of my 'Mountain Sketch'.
This series features soft grey backgrounds that enhance the quiet nature of the artwork; in contrast to the majestic shapes of the mountains, the detail is in the color and the shadows. I hope you have an opportunity to see this work in a gallery setting as it displays beautifully on creamy to yellow hue walls, or against contrasting dark colors.

You can be confident in the quality of the products that I use for my artwork. I purchase professional quality that are long lasting products that will not fade, not crack, not melt or change color. My art has been accepted and purchased internationally and throughout Canada. I am affiliated with the Federation of Canadian Artist, an Elected member of the Society of Canadian Artist and have volunteered with many local art associations and community projects over the years. I am a teacher, an art enthusiast and an art collector myself; as I know what it takes to be a working artist and I love to validate the artwork of other artists by purchasing their original artwork.
