The Bow River summer colours are bright and full, long the rivers edge. After a walk along the ridge the inspiration for this painting was to capture the softness of the light. I painted the water with a minimum of contrast in the colours and created distance in the background to set the mood of this painting. I felt it deserved a special frame.

As an artist, Sheila has used her art to fill her life with things she loves. Walking along the pathways, overlooking the Bow river, she returns to her studio inspired by the light on the landscape. Drawn to the shapes in the trees , and rhythmic movement of the water, she organizes the elements; with a sense of truth and balance.
Acrylics offer her the opportunity to use watercolor techniques; layering colours with a glaze. Its a medium that plays nicely with any other water medium. She looks for the simplest way to express the subject.
