ARTIST COMMENTS
This painting is of the path behind Leighton Art Centre.
Part of a new series featuring images of
Western Canada, the ranches surrounding the Calgary
area. I lean slightly toward abstract art but stay within an
impressionistic style, as the artwork emphasizes shapes,
light, and color. Holding the colors to a more minimalist
style, the piece is subjective and conceptual, allowing you
to add your own memory to the location. Watch for more art
within this series as I change colour schemes and explore
the possibilities.
A little about Sheila Schaetzle.
I am a landscape artist based in Calgary, I combine painting
techniques to create artwork that invites the viewer to
reflect on their own experiences. Passionate about living a
creative life style, journaling and sketching. A member of
several local and national art associations including the
Burns Visual Art Society.
