Explore the quiet tension that exists at the edge of the forest - that fleeting moment where the density of the brush gives way to the open brilliance of the meadow
My artwork continues to explore the atmosphere and light of the Canadian landscape, from my Maritime roots to my home in Alberta foothills. In this series I leaned into a minimalist and conceptual style. Focusing on the weight of the sky and the simplified forms on the horizon. I used a combination of transparent washes and bold opaque layers of acrylic to build depth, allowing the cool blues and muted greys to capture that specific, fleeting stillness when the sun begins to dip. It isn't about a literal place but about inviting the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and find a sense of grounded-ness and peace in the vastness of our natural world.
