We ran from the rain We ran from the rain

The story behind these paintings

This season I donated two of my paintings to Vertigo Theatre Annual fundraiser. In past years I had the opportunity to display several paintings in the halls of the Theatre.

The painting  'Along the Fence line'., Acrylic 11x14 Inch, traditional frame.  (All my frames are sourced locally! Supporting Local Business is important to me).  After a hike in Kananaskis country, we ran from the rain to get back to the car and once we were back on the highway I had a view of the clouds coming over the Rocky Mountains.  It was around Highway 8 heading south that the clouds and the light glowed on the fence along the highway. The image stayed with me for a long while and finally I decided to paint it; not just as a landscape but to recreate the glow.

The second painting is titled "Crimson", a 12 x 24 inch Acrylic painting, Framed.  I picked the titled because of the paint colour I used to complete the painting.  This was a workshop I taught on layering and glazing thin colours on the canvas; an intuitive style of painting that brings about a variety of combined colours into the folds of the foliage of the trees.

Both paintings speak to the greatness of creating beautiful things. Inspiration follows me; in thought; in my journals, and eventually on a canvas.

Art is the Only way to run away; without leaving home!
