As a means of celebrating both the formidable spirit of the early settlers that established such a significant portion of Canadian history, and the country's monumental 150th birthday.  Forty Creek invited the Canadian Artists community to share their visions for a new package that would showcase the Grimsby Region and Canada's rich cultural heritage.  Gracing the package of the special edition Forty Creek Confederation Oak is a spectacular piece titled 'To the Confederation', by Calgary artist Sheila Schaetzle.

Forty Creek's response to her submission was 'Sheila did an outstanding job in artfully combining the richness of Canada's history and the important role it plays in Forty Creek Confederation Oak whisky'.  To honor our heritage, Sheila wanted to emphasis the strength of the Canadian white oak used to age the whisky in Grimsby Ontario. With a black and white theme and cool haze of the tree tops, the focus is on the soldiers and demonstrates a strong foundation kept simple, something that is uniquely Canadian.

'To the Confederation', Artist Statement by Sheila  Schaetzle

 I love history and all things that take time to age; especially in a Canadian climate. To honor our heritage I emphasized  a cool climate and the strengths of the white oak.   Keeping a black and white theme was to keep the emphasis on the Soldiers under a cool haze of the tree tops, a blue sky awaits as they stand in a crisp frosty layer of snow.  A strong foundation kept simple, a Canadian trait. To The Confederation, Cheers!
