'Disappearing into the Landscape' Art Exhibition

Peter Prest a Calgary watercolor artist that I have crossed paths with a few times unexpectedly but this time it's on purpose as we've planned a show together at Resolution Art Gallery, August 23 - September 11, 2011

Peter's artwork strive to elevate the commonplace and everyday to be special and celebrated. His interest is in catching energy and tension between the contributing elements in his compositions.  His artwork features bold colors that are unexpected for a watercolor media, a pleasing result which compliments his unique subject matters.

For the last six years, Peter has worked predominantly on watercolour canvas and panels, which have provided him with new and wonderfully exciting surfaces. Using broad strokes with flat brushes to reflect the emotions of the moment, Peter has evolved a style deliberately expressive with colour, value and texture creating an awareness of energy and movement.

If your looking for a finished product for your home you must come out and see Peter's artwork framed professionally with style and warmth; a wonderful addition to any home.  Following is Peter's current newsletter; I hope you enjoy getting to know this local artist.

 Doing Business

For the last twelve weeks I have been working on getting new paintings ready for this new landscape show with Sheila Schaetzle at Resolution Gallery and since it has been taking up so much of my time and energy, I thought I'd devote this newsletter to some of my work behind the show... what goes into preparing for a show.

I'd have to go back to last fall when I started talking about the idea for this show with Resolution Gallery about the possibilities of a show about landscape painting. A Calgary artist I was keen to work with was Sheila Schaetzle. I've become a great fan of her work since seeing it in earlier shows around Calgary, and I knew she does colourful landscapes as part of her repertoire. Although Sheila has a very busy schedule this summer, she has proven very willing to do this show, and we've been planning it over the last few weeks. I am delighted to be showing with her, and I think our works complement each other very well. I'm hoping that you'll be just as excited when you see it at Resolution.
